Welcome! The Toronto Renters forum "dot com" domain is back on-line. This is an installation of the phpBB open source forums software. It started on April 7, 2026.
Subject says all. And things are not too great on this server either!
I posted one image from the convention floor in real time after recording it with my cell phone, from my other system at around 4:30 p.m.
Over 100 people were talking at the same time. You could not hear what was being said!
One issue right now on this new version of the Toronto Renters Forum boards is theclock. I'm editing the image post at around 9 p.m. on Saturday evening.
See also this video clip. In the clip the woman in the red t-shirt is speaking, but it was impossible to hear what she was saying; afterwards I told her so.
And here's a shot of yours truly doing exit polls after the show. I also promised this lady (Sharlene Henry) the video; she was soooooo enthusiastic! I'm working on it, and I'll mail the "Doug Fraud" (sic) sticker so that she may give it to her mom.
Tuesday June 16, 2025 update - I added the following lines to the FAQ section:
“(The new group) was mentioned several times at the FMTA's general meeting on June 13th, but no details were provided to the membership: nothing about the charter or Letters Patent, or the officers who were presumably elected at the founding convention. Was there a media release issued? We just don't know and the new group's web pages - and the FMTA web pages! - were silent on this point through to at least Monday June 15th.
If folks are interested ‒ and it certainly appears as though the FMTA is not interested in carrying out any due diligence around this matter ‒ we (meaning forum users) could have discussions to analyze the background and impetus of and for the new entity.
It's not clear whether existing groups were invited to send delegates to the April 18 event. Via on-site exit polling it seemed that the process was a success; there was a positive vibe and and the organizers were personable and even charming, but again we have heard nothing since.
Just as an example much has been made of the size of the High Park Tenants Association, and I think the current "president" of the HPTA was elected to the FMTA's board - there were no materials provided to the media at the end of the session - but likewise he has been silent on the topic of the new group and whether his group was involved, or not.”
Most of the new group's web pages have not been updated, but they say they're doing something this evening atTNOwho have huge new digs where Zeller's used to be in the East York Town Centre on Overlea Blvd.
